What is a Super Jeep

A Super Jeep/Truck is originally a standard truck/SUV or van but modified by local workshops according to strict regulations.

Mounted on 38 - 46 inch tall tires (95-120 cm), they're equipped with everything needed to take on the extreme Icelandic nature with all its unpredictable and constant changes in weather.

All sorts of modification have to been done to be able to fit those monster tires beneath the vehicle, including reconstructing a part of the body and specially built fender flares. Differential lockers are installed for more traction when driving through deep snow and up steep hills. Gear ratio has been altered to handle bigger and heavier tires. Many have extra large fuel tanks for longer tours and expeditions in the highlands and all of them are equipped with high tech GPS navigation system, VHF radios, mobile phones and everything else needed for safe travelling in Iceland´s rugged and beautiful nature.
